Every switch, in order.

NAMper's Settings sheet is short on purpose. This page walks it card by card, row by row, with the defaults and what each control really does — and ends with the handful of settings that live somewhere else entirely.

08.1Opening Settings

Tap the gear icon in the header of the Rig tab. That is the only way in, and the header only exists on that tab — from Loop, Sample, Perform or Control you go back to Rig first.

The gear has company in that header row, and it is worth knowing what the neighbours do:

08.2Audio interface

The AUDIO INTERFACE card is the longest one, and the only one whose settings need a relaunch to take effect. The first four rows are read-only: they tell you what NAMper actually got from iOS, which is the fastest way to find out why an interface is not behaving.

Audio changes need a relaunch

The chips and switches here take effect on the next engine start — some, like the sample rate, restart the engine themselves. If something looks stuck, power the engine off and on before assuming it is broken.

08.3Channel names

CHANNEL NAMES is a text field per input, each row prefixed In 1, In 2 and so on, with the placeholder Guitar, Vocal…. The footnote says what they are for: Input pickers show these names everywhere.

Name them once and those names appear in every input picker in the app — rig inputs, looper track sources, compressor sidechains, the input trim sliders. Channels you leave blank fall back to In <n>.

Worth two minutes

On a multichannel interface, Guitar and Vocal are much easier to pick correctly mid-soundcheck than In 3 and In 4.

08.4Appearance

Chips: System, Light, Dark. The default is System, and this is the one setting on the whole sheet that applies the instant you tap it.

NAMper is designed dark — the meters, the LEDs and the chain graphics are drawn for a dark stage. Light is there if you need it in daylight, but the app is at its most legible in the dark.

08.5Set

The SET card is read-only. It shows Tempo (as BPM, or when nothing is set) and Key (such as Am, or ). It is a status readout, not a control.

The footnote points you at the real controls: Tempo: long-press the metronome. Key: the KEY button in the header.

08.6Lyrics

One slider: teleprompter text size, from 16 to 34 pt, default 22 pt, with a live preview line reading This is how your lyrics will look.

Changing it re-aims the teleprompter live, so if the lyrics screen is open on another device or you come straight back to it, nothing has to be re-timed. Set it for the distance the phone actually sits from your face on a mic stand, not from the sofa. See lyrics and the teleprompter.

08.7Metronome

The card's footnote is the useful part: The click is mixed in AFTER the master FX chain — reverbs and limiters never touch it. Pick a separate output pair for in-ear monitoring.

That means your master reverb will not smear the click and your master limiter will not duck the band every time it ticks. Send it to its own pair and the drummer hears the click while front of house does not.

The click itself is switched on and off with the metronome chip in the Rig header, or the CLICK chip in the Loop tab — not from here.

08.8Prompts

The quick tour is a spotlight over the live Rig tab, counted n/8, and it is hands-on rather than a slideshow: it walks you through turning the audio on (you really tap the power button), the amp card, the signal chain (you really tap a block), the block editor, presets, the other tabs and a closing step. Next, Skip step and End tour are always available, with Finish at the end. It runs on the Rig tab only.

08.9Reset

Two buttons, each behind a confirmation.

The first one wipes your rig presets and restores the four factory rigs. The second leaves every preset and every file alone and only puts the settings back to their defaults.

Restart after a settings reset

The footnote reads Settings reset takes effect after an app restart., and it means it. Only the appearance change applies immediately — the audio settings need a relaunch before they are truly back at their defaults. Quit NAMper from the app switcher and open it again.

08.10Diagnostics

NAMper keeps a plain-text engine log recording interface routing and peaks. When one exists, this card offers Share engine log and Clear engine log; when it does not, it reads No engine log yet (it records interface routing and peaks).

Share engine log hands the file to the iOS share sheet — mail it, AirDrop it, or attach it to a support issue. It is the single most useful thing you can include in a bug report about an interface that will not open, a rate that gets refused or an engine that stops on its own, because it records what actually happened at the audio layer.

Clear engine log empties it. Do that immediately before reproducing a problem and the log you send contains that problem and nothing else.

08.11Not in Settings

Three things people look for here and do not find.

Trigger quantize

The QUANT knob and its grid chip live in the Sample tab header, not in Settings — even though both are global rather than per kit or per pad. See trigger quantize.

Tempo and key

Both are header chips on the Rig tab. Settings only reports them, in the SET card.

MIDI

There are no global MIDI settings at all: no channel selector, no program-change toggle, no clock sync. MIDI in NAMper is omni and always on — every channel is accepted, every source connects automatically, and the app publishes its own virtual destination named NAMper.

Nothing to configure

If a pedal is not doing anything, the problem is the mapping rather than a setting. Everything MIDI lives in the Control tab — see MIDI & control.
